Jeff Williams is now the Chief Operating Officer of Apple Inc. The first COO since Tim Cook. The company is currently facing a lot of questions about its growth prospects. It’s now named the new COO and also realigned several other posts with senior ranks. The No.2 at the company is Jeff Williams, who is a long time trusted deputy of Tim Cook. Mr. Williams joined Apple Inc. in the year 1998 and have been involved in the company’s supply chain and operations. He is also expanding his role in the company by overseeing and heading the Apple Watch department.
Mr. Jeff Williams is often referred as “Tim Cook’s Tim Cook”, similar role in all the important operations that the Apple chief worked for the former CEO Steve Jobs. Mr. Williams fills a role that has been vacant since 2011 since the ascension of Tim Cook. The company did make a couple of adjustments at the senior level which were stable since 2012. John Browett and Scott Forstall who oversaw the retail and mobile software departments were ousted.
Since Mr. Cook’s ascension, he has made several changes and also brought deputies from outside such as CFO Luca Maestri from Xerox Corp., Angela Ahrendts from Burberry Group PLC, etc. Today, Apple Inc. is among the most valuable company in terms to market capitalization worldwide. Its iPhones with larger screens have has massive sales growth since 2014 however market analysts foresee the sales growth might fall ending in the fiscal year. It would be the first decline in the sales of iPhones since its introduction in 2007. This means the new COO Jeff Williams will have to work to finding better solution and help Apple Inc. keep up its sales which fell by 7%.
